Balance & Core Strength

Core strength is the ability to control the position of the spine. With this control comes a connection to our center which refines alignment and creates balance, allowing us to develop and deploy strength efficiently. Each class has three parts: a standing sequence emphasizing the nexus of alignment and balance, a seated sequence to cultivate strength and control in the muscles which control the position of the spine, and a sequence of arm balances and inversions where core strength and balance come together to create a quiet dynamism. While each class will be different in details, a strong continuity from one class to the next will allow students to revisit and refine difficult techniques and observe clear progress with regular attendance.

While this class is not appropriate for absolute beginners in yoga, all students with an existing practice are welcome and encouraged to attend with a beginner’s mind.
